Sterling Opera House – Under Renovation
The Sterling Opera House in Derby, CT was built in 1889. The Stage at the opera house went dark in 1945. During operation many famous entertainers graced the stage such as Amelia Earhart , Red Skelton and the famous escape artist Harry Houdini. despite the theater being shut down, the facility still operated as a City Hall and Police Substation until the 1960s.
The Atlantic Paranormal Society, Ghost Hunters, filmed an episode at the theater in April 2011. The building is closed to the public but photography tours can be arranged with a donation to the Sterling Opera House foundation.
